I've already read the manga so I find this less ridicoulus. But seriously, people should stop acting like it's the first time this anime went ridicoulusly unrealistic.

Seriously, people complaining about unrealism in Prince of Tennis. Why watch anime sports in the first place if you wanted to watch realistic sports? Turn on your tv and go watch ESPN or something.

Lol there are quite a few anime sports i can mention to you that are not this unrealistic.. Hajime no Ippo, Ao Ashi, Captain Tsubasa, Ryman's Club, Diamon No Ace, Hanebado, Days, Haikyuu.. Heck not even Kuroko No Basket took it to this level.

They are all still unrealistic nonetheless, and that's why everyone watches them. The sharp breaking balls in Daiya no Ace are unrealistic, neither are Haikyuu time stopping midair plays and freak quicks with eyes closed. Captain Tsubasa tiger shots make no sense, and neither does Ao ashi borrowing a bird's eye while talking with another bird's eye user telepathically. Hajime no ippo has unpractical boxing moves and let's not even mention Kuroko no basket.

Yet these things are what make them interesting to watch. And to shit on Prince of Tennis for the very same reason that they watch anime in the first place is hypocritical.

In the author's defense though, I would say the series had already turned into magical tennis from the moment muga no kyouchi and the 3 doors were introduced.... and i love Baby Steps which is by far the most realistic sports manga but sales didn't go well and ended prematurely.

lol the fuck. it was already so ridic with the techniques players have, controlling gravity and whatnot. now we got a horseback tennis added. all thats left is aliens showing up and challenging earth to a tennis match, which escalates into an inter galactic tournament. then a match to settle who becomes the god of tennis. then the multiverse match to finally settle the best player in all the multiverse. then when ryoma finds himself bored because he is now the best, he gets hit by a truck and gets isekaid.

and these are teenagers lol. what the fuck are pros like in their world. are they serving galaxies, returning time?

They brought two fucking horses on a tennis court. I don't recall players in eyeshield 21 pulling out a literal spear on the field. I don't recall players in kuruko no basket riding around in tanks.
The crazy scenes in other sports anime are usually used as a metaphor or a super exaggeration that only we as the viewers see. I mean wouldn't you think the spectators would shirt their pants if the eyes of the players would suddenly start glowing? Seirin didn't literally bring a giant metal gate to smash it open when they enter the zone. It's only meant to give visuals to something invisible that's going on on the inside. It's art.
But they literally brought HORSES on a tennis court. This has become a gag anime like gintama, but they simply never go out of character and always play it straight.
